Now this is a fun thing to try, and I definitely recommend anyone with an interest in getting better in Photoshop to try this out. Based off a study done by a guy named Daryl Mandryk, you watch a movie (or a bunch of movies if you prefer) and draw little thumbnails of the stills, limiting yourself to 10 or 20 minutes. Really helps to improve speed as well as get more information about composition, value and color.
And bonus points to anybody who can name all the movies I drew.

Hobos and Potato Sacks - The Process
Original pose. No he's not that skinny, I was actually using this for another assignment where we had to modify a model's anatomy, but I liked the pose so much that I decided to go with it. |
Was hit by a bunch of different ideas and I had the hardest time choosing between them, even when I got the value comps done |
Once the color comps got done I had an easier time picking out what I wanted to see to completion. |
Still wasn't quite good with the colors so I did a few more to see what I wanted in the background |
Putting a Figure Into Costume
Our assignment was to take a gesture drawing we've done and put the model into a costume and environment
